The Flying Studio - More of The New.
The reason for the change of name can be found here as reported by The Derby Evening Telegraph. You will still find the website at www.strictlypoledancing.co.uk and also shortly at www.flyingstudio.co.uk
Latest picture update on the Derby studio progress:
Although classes will continue on 31st July at Darley Abbey (my Fitness First students will be coming with me), the official launch date is yet to be confirmed.
Not to have it's thunder stolen by the piece on the BBC, I am very excited to announce that The Flying Studio will be holding a Studio Showcase on Saturday November 17th 2007. This will be a celebration of pole dance as requested by many! The general consensus I got from the community was that they would like to showcase their talents instead of a competition. Not only that, many were thinking of running their own showcase. Well, I have a venue, love meeting up with my fellow pole dancers...it's a no brainer! Already there are some excellent Pole Dance Performers confirmed. Most have said yes immmediately and there are a few that I need to get around to asking.
The performers will be made up of high standard pole dancers including The Flying Studio teachers plus a few of my students also. It will be a ticketed event and I expect it to sell out (to pole dance students and friends and family of the performers) as there is limited ticket availability. Each performer will recieve a purse derived from a percentage of ticket sales (this idea was suggested by Sam from www.theartofdance.co.uk some time ago when we were discussing performance). There will be safety guidelines for performers and possibly a track time limit (depending on numbers). More details will follow on this...
Another exciting announcement is that in September we will be running aerial classes under the same format as the pole dancing (i.e tasters and courses).
By the way, here's some vids of last month's performances at Moxters of Rock Festival:
This first one is sideways through time...myself and Jane (ex-Hawkwind dancer). Hoping to do more doubles stuff again next time.
